Bird’s nest fungi in which the eggs (peridioles) are loose in the nest, rather than being attached to the nest base as in Crucibulum and Cyathus. Three species are reported from New Zealand.

Nidula candida

Fruiting on decaying wood in native forest. Characterised by a beautiful shaggy white to greyish outer layer to the nest The relationship of this species with the similar N. niveo-tomentosa needs clarification in New Zealand.
