Forming annual to occasionally perennial fruiting bodies, represented by a single species in New Zealand. The dark upper surface contrasts with the cream lower poroid surface. Almost exclusively on Kauri.

Heterobasidion araucariae

In New Zealand fruits only on kauri logs or on large fallen branches, very occasionally reported on Pinus taeda; in Australia on Araucaria. Fruiting bodies usually solitary, to 20 cm across, 17 cm radius, to 8 cm thick at base; upper sur
